Postdoctoral Researcher on “COMBINED USE OF PHYSICAL-PHOTOELETROCHEMICAL PROCESSES IN

WATER TREATMENT”

The Laboratório de Engenharia e Controle Ambiental at Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) offers

a postdoctoral position, funded by FAPESP, for an innovative research and the development of

technologies for water treatment. The research scope covers the synthesis of photocatalysts for removal

of organic compounds responsible for taste and odor.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related areas.

Expertise in electrochemistry, nanomaterials synthesis and analytical characterization;

Expertise in electrochemical methods and analysis (e.g. CV, LV, EIS, dV/dQ, etc.) for materials

characterization and photocatalytic experiments;

Expertise and preferably hands-on experience in multiple characterization techniques used in

materials/photocatalysis investigations such as microscope/imaging (e.g. SEM, TEM, Optical), structural

and optical analysis (e.g. XRD, Raman), analytical analysis (e.g. CG-MS / FID, HPLC), elemental analysis

(e.g. XRF, EDX), surface analysis (e.g. XPS) and thermal analysis (e.g. TG/DTA, DSC).

Well-established background in materials science, interface/surface science, and electrochemistry

relevant to materials/photocatalysis mechanistic investigation.

Experience in effluent/water treatment and water quality parameters and measurement methods (e.g.

COD, BOD, OD, TOC, etc.) (considered an advantage).

Summary of conditions for Post-Doctoral Scholarship:

eligible applicants are required to have (i) PhD either in material science, chemistry,

engineering or a related discipline; (ii) experience in Electrochemistry, synthesis and

characterization of nanomaterials; and (iii) fluent in English

Full-time work (40 h / week)

Contract Length: 24 months, with possible renovation for another 12 months

Location: Diadema, São Paulo, Brazil

Postdoctoral scholarship: ca. R$ 8,479.20
